Ecological Well-Being

Green City Farm – A growing ground for learning, sustainability and community.

At Green City Farm, vegetables are cultivated responsibly and sustainably for Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College, its partners, local restaurants, and the surrounding community.

Located just steps from our Malmi Campus, the educational field offers students and visitors the chance to experience firsthand how food is grown with care for the environment. Whether you’re studying culinary arts, business, hospitality, or tourism, Green City Farm brings learning to life outside the classroom.

Hands-On Learning Environment

At the farm, students and professionals in the HoReCa sector (Hotel, Restaurant, Catering) see where fresh, plant-based ingredients originate before reaching the kitchen. Business and tourism students explore the farm through projects in product development, sustainability, marketing, and sales.

Green City Farm is more than a field—it’s a shared learning space for sustainable development and responsible practices across disciplines.

Ambassadors of a Sustainable Future

“Our mission is to nurture environmentally aware students who live by sustainable values. We want them to become ambassadors for responsible practices in their future careers—and to challenge their workplaces to do the same. We expect this responsibility not only from our students, but also from every staff member and partner,”
— Juha Ojajärvi, Principal, Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College

Rooted in the Community

Green City Farm also connects with the local neighborhood. Community members are welcome to visit the field, volunteer, or simply enjoy the view. It’s a place to pause, observe pumpkins and cabbages grow, or take in the scent of fresh herbs.

At the edge of the field, a beehive plays an essential role—pollinating plants and helping ensure a healthy, abundant harvest.
