Ecological Teaching Farm
Perho Green City Farm is an ecological teaching farm located next to Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College’s Malmi campus. Its operations are grounded in holistic responsibility and the principles of sustainable development. The farm serves as a dynamic learning environment where students gain hands-on experience in ecological farming, circular economy practices, and sustainable gastronomy.
Over 60 Plant Varieties
Using ecological methods, the farm cultivates more than 60 plant species. The harvest is supplied to the college’s own restaurants and partner organizations. The farm follows a community-supported agriculture (CSA) model that emphasizes transparency and collaboration. Biowaste from the Restaurant Perho is composted and returned to the soil as fertilizer, supporting a circular economy and reducing food waste.

Raising Awareness of Food Origins
Green City Farm’s mission is to increase awareness of where food comes from and promote a more sustainable food culture. Its impactful work has been recognized with the Sustainability Award at the PRO2022 Gala (Helsinki, Finland), highlighting the farm’s role in advancing sustainable development.
Perho Green City Farm and Mosjøen videregående skole (Norway) participated at the European Week of Regions and Cities, showcasing the highlights of Erasmus+ ‘AgriCulinary’ project aimed at creating an interdisciplinary teaching curriculum to combine agriculture and culinary education for the next generation of food industry leaders.
Green City Farm was also selected to be one of the inspired showcases of a sustainable learning community by the ELNE Educational Leadership Network Europe.
