What are planetary boundaries?
Planetary boundaries define a safe operating space for humanity within the limits set by Earth’s natural systems (illustrated in green in the image). Crossing these boundaries is believed to gradually increase the risk of irreversible environmental changes, while also posing growing threats to human health and well-being.
